More Than Half of All Internet Searches Are For Local Businesses.
Did you know that when people go online to look for a product or service, more than half the time they are looking for someone local to do business with?
The internet has become indispensable as a source for information. Today, it's the first place people think to look when they want to find something out. It's even more true when people are looking to buy something.
More Than Half of All Internet Searches Are Now From Mobile Devices.
Just a couple of years ago, the vast majority of internet searches were from desktop or laptop computers. Today, searches from smartphones and tablets outnumber searches from computers by nearly 2 to 1.
Not only do most smartphones and computers know your location (through GPS), more and more, search engines can also determine your location (from your IP address). This means that search results of all kinds are ever more geographically aware, and more and more these results show businesses geographically close to the device making the query.
If you want to be found in these searches, you must be listed in the places they'll look.
The Majority of Searches from Mobile Devices do NOT Use Google.
It used to be that more than 95% of all search results were returned from one of the big three: Google, Yahoo, or Bing.
Today, that's no longer the case. Today, thanks to the prevalence of so many mobile device apps, more than half of all internet searches are made through other sources, such as Yelp, Yellow Pages, Local Pages, MapQuest, or any of several dozen other local business databases.
If your business is not listed in all these databases, you could be losing a significant amount of patronage.
