PORTFOLIO - PAGE 2
Here we have the second page of our portfolio of the
many of the websites we have created. There are
probably a dozen more sites that we have created that
have come to the end of their usefulness and are no
longer online.
For each website listed, we have a description of the
principal purpose of that website, and note when you can
observe special features on that site. If you click on the
screenshot of the sites listed, you will be taken directly to
that site so you can explore it at your leisure.
Marin Burch’s Professsional Translations
This site is the principal contact
site for professional translator
and educator Marin Burch's
services for journal article
preparation and submission
assistance, standardized test
comprehension and response
coaching, standardized test
essay writing coaching
services, and other essential business English services for
(mostly) native Japanese speakers.
This site is still in the development stages, and should
demonstrate significant growth in the future.
The Quality Teaching Initiatives Institute
This site provides the primary
worldwide presence of the
Institute. There are pages on the
site that outline who they are, their
vision and mission statements,
focus areas, seminars available,
standards and specifications,
certifications, research, plans,
structure, and more.
This site is a good illustration of an information-only website.
The Quality Educational Video Group
This is the primary sales site
for educational videos from the
Quality Educational Video
Group.
This site is done in
Dreamweaver, and has several
embedded videos in it. The site
also has links to sales pages, it
has information pages, and a visitor information page.
Business Automation Solutions
This is the oldest site I've done
that is still active. It dates from
circa 1997, and has been moved
to several different hosts. Much
of the design and formatting has
been lost on the transfer between
hosts. That's one of the reasons I
now do my own hosting. The
information on the site is still
valid, but the site desperately needs a redesign. Since the
business is a sideline for the site owner, he's not in any hurry to do
the upgrade.
The Project Sousa Organization Website
There is a lot of band music
available in the Public Domain.
Project Sousa is gathering it
and making it available for free
to everyone.
The current version of this site
is built on the Drupal content
management system, which
requires admin approval for someone to join, and restricts access
to inner pages to those people who have been approved to join.
This cuts down dramatically on the number of spam submissions
to the comments area.
The Snicko.com Gateway Website
This is my own personal home
page. It is where I have my
browser's home page set,
primarily because it has links to
almost any other page I might
want to go to. Things to notice
about this page are
* Google Ads and Affiliate Links. One way to monetize a website
(meaning to make money from it) is to carry ads.
* Integrated Verse Of The Day. I wanted a new Bible verse each
day, and came across a site that furnishes it so that it is
automatically updated each day on my site.
* "Glass" Graphic In The Header. I designed this graphic myself,
using Xara Xtreme software, as an experiment in designing a
plexiglas-appearing signboard. I think it turned out pretty well.

The Burkes Group Insurance Agency
This website is for an
independent insurance agent
who is an associate of another
agency for whom we built a
website.
The owner of this agency liked
his associate’s website so
much he told me he wanted his
website to look just like the other one, so we built it that way, and
simply changed the text to reflect the uniqueness of his business,
and he was up and online in just a few days.
Outdoor Living Solutions
Outdoor Living Solutions is a
business that provides home outdoor
mosquito (and other pest) control.
They have seven different types of
solutions they offer, ranging from
special misters installed around the
yard to integrating pest control and
fertilization into a home’s existing
sprinkler system to actually installing
these irrigation systems for homes that need them.
We provided a full page for each system (listed on the SERVICES
page) for a total of ten pages on the website, which he received
for a package price for the entire build. This customer saved quite
a bit of money on his website package by supplying all the text
and photographs for his site.

Custom Creations, Inc. of Mississippi
This company had a
website they built
themselves on a
business website
hosting site - they had
built it from a template
and had done a fairly
good job, but it wasn’t a
professionally-designed
site, and it wasn’t
optimized for search
engines to find them. They realized their website needed help, so
they began to look for someone to help them.
They came to David Miller Web Designs to get their site totally
redesigned, rebuilt, and optimized for search engines, and now
they’re very happy with their new site. One of the things with which
they are most happy is the fact that they’re saving a LOT of money
- they will now pay less than 20% of what they used to pay for
their site hosting.
Ponderosa Fence And Gate
This website is owned by
the same people as
Custom Creations of
Mississippi, above, and so
it has a nearly identical
design - only the colors,
pictures, and text are
different. This is what the
clients wanted, and they
are happy with the results.
This site, like the Custom Creations site mentioned in the previous
paragraph, is a solid, basic, business website. It has a home page
to greet people when they arrive at the site, an “About Us” page to
let their potential customers know they’re real people and not
some faceless corporation, a series of “Products” pages
describing the products they offer, a “Testimonials” page, with
actual quotes from satisfied customers, and a “Contact Us” page
to help potential customers get in touch with them for more
information. The site is clean and straightforward, and serves a
definite business purpose, to put potential customers in touch with
the businesses.
Integrity Insurance Group
This website was designed
to take advantage of the
latest Web 2.0 design
protocols.
This site uses commercial
photographs and high
quality graphics integration
to build a site the draws
the visitor in, to read the
text on the page and to
click on the buttons to
learn more about what is
being offered, and eventually, to contact the site owner for more
information about the products offered here. This site not only
uses advanced design protocols, but also utilizes high-level
copywriting to ensure the best user experience and the highest
conversion rates (this is when a visitor to the site actually takes
action, such as asking for more information, instead of leaving
without action).
